Upcoming Events
Conferences
Conferences are larger, multi-session gatherings that bring together scholars, practitioners, and activists from across disciplines and geographies to explore care from many angles. Think panels, keynotes, and plenty of space for conversation and connection. Held in person, hybrid, and online formats.
We will be hosting four 'mini-conferences' in the 2026-2027 academic year. Interested in joining as a presenter? Check our Open Calls page for available opportunities. To join as a participant, see below.
Current Mini-Conference Series
Learning from Latin America — Mini-Conference Series (2026-2027)
Each issue of our upcoming OA journal is anchored by a hybrid mini-conference hosted at Duke University, bringing together scholars, practitioners, and creative contributors to develop the issue’s themes in dialogue. Check out the calendar for our mini-conference series here!
Care Conversations
Care Conversations are lively, panel-style events centered on recent books and publications in the care field. Authors offer brief reflections on their work, peers respond, and the floor opens for questions and comments from everyone in the room — or on the call. A great entry point if you're new to care studies! Held in person, hybrid, and online throughout the academic year.
Interested in joining as an author or respondent? Check our Open Calls page for available opportunities. To join as a participant, see below.

Seminars
Our Seminars bring together scholars and anyone curious about care to discuss work in progress, often organized thematically. Papers — typically by early-career researchers — are pre-circulated and commented on by a respondent, before authors respond and the floor opens for open discussion. Whether you're a researcher or simply care-curious, you're welcome here! Held in person, hybrid, and online throughout the academic year, and currently organized by RCGE's advisory board.
Interested in joining as an author or commentator? Check our Open Calls page for available opportunities. To join as a participant, see below.
Upcoming Seminars
Water and Care — Working Papers Seminar
Join us for a Working Papers Seminar on Water and Care, featuring two papers that explore the entanglement of care, ecology, and extraction in coastal and deep-sea environments.
Care in Practice
Care in Practice events are interactive workshops designed to engage the public hands-on. From spending a morning on Duke's Campus Farm making compost, to learning from practitioners working on care, to roundtable conversations about exciting developments in care studies, these gatherings invite discussion and collaboration in less structured, more diverse ways. Organized around specific research or practice that calls for deeper engagement, they're a great way to bridge the gap between care theory and practice. Held in person, hybrid, and online throughout the academic year, sometimes in multi-day convenings.
Interested in joining as a co-host, facilitator, or invitee? Check our Open Calls page for available opportunities. To join as a participant, see below.
Talks
Talks are stand-alone lectures open to the public, featuring established scholars sharing their work and perspectives on care. These events offer an accessible entry point into the ideas and conversations that animate RCGE's work — no pre-reading required! Held in person, hybrid, and online formats.
We haven't yet planned any talks for the the 2026–2027 academic year, but stay tuned for future announcements. Check out past Talks here.
